At the heart of the brief was a need to maximise natural light and flow. This project exemplifies how to create a beautiful home without stripping it back to its bones. Original features, including windows, doors and the staircase were carefully restored: ornate gold balustrades were replaced, doors sanded and repainted, and windows refreshed to retain character while delivering a modern feel. With a calculated, budget-conscious approach, we reused and renewed wherever possible to deliver a contemporary yet grounded result. While minimal modifications were made to internal walls, key rooms were relocated to improve flow and support a more open, modern way of living. The kitchen, dining and living areas were reimagined as a cohesive space for both family life and entertaining. Low ceilings were visually lifted by removing dark panelling and heavy curtains, instantly improving proportions and light. To further enhance daylight, skylights were installed in the new kitchen and tall windows now span the back of the house, flooding the ground floor with natural light. Each space was designed to feel calm, cohesive, and quietly luxurious. From the serene master suite to the tactile living areas, furnishings layer texture and tone in harmony with architectural details. The materials were chosen in soft, neutral hues to create a calm, timeless backdrop that enhances the sense of space and light. The result? A personal, sophisticated home - understated yet highly considered, with an enduring warmth tailored to modern family life.
