ROYAL ARSENAL RIVERSIDE

BERKELEY EAST THAMES

Berkeley is breathing new life into Woolwich, south-east London, with Royal Arsenal Riverside, a superb mixed-use development of over 5,000 new homes, famous brands and independent businesses, extensive community amenities and new cultural hotspot – all in an amazing riverside setting.

Formerly a neglected munitions site, with a proud 300-year history, 88 acres have been transformed into a thriving destination that exudes vibrancy, personality and a real community spirit.

20 years from the start of this 30-year, £1.2 billion project, Royal Arsenal Riverside is home to more than 8,000 people and a magnet for many visitors and tourists.

To date, Berkeley has delivered over 3,500 homes in striking contemporary apartment buildings and Georgian listed buildings, sensitively restored to preserve the site’s rich history. Residents enjoy five-star health and wellbeing facilities and on-site amenities including a health centre, pharmacy and creche.

Royal Arsenal Riverside’s thriving business centre has attracted a host of national brands, together with local shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. Residents are opening their own businesses on-site and organising events, encouraged by Berkeley.

The public realm is coming alive with a four-acre park, which will run the full length of the development, down to the river. The opening of cultural district at Royal Arsenal Riverside in 2021, including a 1,200-seat performance space and 405-seat theatre, will put Woolwich on the map as a new cultural hotspot to rival London’s South Bank.

Another milestone in 2021 will be the arrival of Crossrail at the on-site station, enhancing RAR’s already superb transport links and dramatically reducing travel times to central London.
