Rhys Cannon

Rhys is the director of Gruff Architects that he established in 2010. He has led his team over the last decade to produce buildings that respond and positively contribute to the lives of their clients. With a background in teaching and passion for model-making, he has encouraged the practice to take a particular focus on the smaller building details that offer a sense of tactility and engagement between the occupant and built-form, through: materials; texture; colour and form. Frequently looking to the opportunities to create, in-house, building fragments that can be incorporated into the design and enable the ability to be experimental with the means of fabrication and manufacture. His desire is, above all, to produce buildings that can be simultaneously beautiful, fun, playful and uplifting to all that experience them.
