Aberfeldy Village

The regeneration of the Aberfeldy Estate is an ambitious scheme that is transforming a neglected area of East London. The project is being carried out by pioneering developer EcoWorld London in partnership with housing association Poplar HARCA and is setting a new benchmark for regeneration in the city.

The partnership is now halfway through the 20-year project timeline. To date, more than 678 homes have been delivered across all tenures, along with facilities and a new public park. From this summer, a further 223 homes will be completed as well as the heart of the scheme: an extended community centre with a programme of events designed to bring the neighbourhood together. This facility will build on the vibrancy that has already been established by the colourful meanwhile use murals on Aberfeldy Street. Already, the partnership has improved the lives of locals, reinvented the commercial centre and attracted a new cohort of residents and businesses. Today, a new Masterplan for the remaining areas is being developed in collaboration with the local community, who have overwhelmingly given their support for further regeneration via public consultation. As well as potentially 1,500 more homes, the project will deliver more green spaces, safer streets, improved walking and cycleways and more affordable workspaces. This regeneration will meet not only the needs and desires of the local area, but of the whole city of London.
