Wimbledon Village House is a newly built, energy-efficient family home located near Wimbledon Common. Designed for comfortable daily living, it connects seamlessly to garden spaces and natural light, creating a calm and serene environment. The house blends into its suburban setting through its setback from the street and dark-toned materials, complementing the Arts and Crafts context. Sustainable materials, such as patinated copper and handmade brick, were chosen for their lightweight, durable, and handcrafted qualities. Key features include a light and ventilation oculus ('top hat') for passive cooling and heating, as well as carefully integrated natural light solutions. The layout centres on a main hall, striking a balance between private and communal spaces, with carefully selected materials that enhance the interior’s warmth and elegance. The project succeeded through strong client collaboration and a shared commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
