Twickenham Gateway

Rolfe Judd

: Solum Regeneration (Kier Property and Network Rail’s joint venture)

Twickenham Gateway delivers 121 new homes, 7,000 sqf of new retail space as well as greatly improving the station. It provides a gateway development for Twickenham town centre, that reflects the importance of the site in relation to local residents as well as local and international visitors.

This development for Solum Regeneration (Kier Property and Network Rail’s joint venture) was designed to respect the transitional nature of the site (from urban to suburban), and the landscape provides generous spaces that support the site’s gateway location, as well as more intimate spaces that respect the more suburban nature of the residential land to the north. All the homes have been delivered to leading design and sustainability standards with a focus on durable, stylish interiors and high quality exterior finishes. High environmental objectives were targeted from the outset for the scheme including: •Enhanced biodiversity to achieve BREEAM Excellent for the commercial spaces •Green roofs to all buildings •Minimal intervention to the existing tree and plant life within the area. •High performance PV panels on all buildings to reduce the site’s carbon footprint and achieve code for sustainable homes level 4. •Use of recycled components in concrete and steel. •Construction waste managed with over 99% sent to recycling. •Creating access to 170m of wildlife corridor along the River Crane •250 covered cycle spaces for station users, with a further 160 for residents.
