St Pancras Project

Sally Conran Studio Ltd Situated in the iconic St Pancras building in central London, I was asked to design the interiors for a generous three bedroom apartment situated in the roof space, on the fourth and fifth floors, of this Grade I listed building. The client wanted to create a smart yet comfortable space for living and also entertaining friends and work colleagues. Characterised by enormously high vaulted ceilings, heavy wooden beams and gothic arched windows, the apartment was dark, dated and underspecc’d in terms of heating and lighting. An integrated lighting scheme and new colour palette were designed and vintage light fittings were chosen to compliment the unusual lofty spaces. A bespoke shelving unit which spans both floors was designed to create a rich library feel on the top mezzanine floor and link it to the lower living area. Soft mohair, leather & velvet in sumptuous tones were combined with dark smoked oak and brass to create a rich palette which compliments the strong architectural style of this historic building. Tailored, bespoke, motorised curtains in classic linen, soften the gothic windows and add a soft elegance to the rooms. On the lower floor softer shades were chosen for the corridor and bedrooms to create restful, private spaces and a silk carpet creates comfort underfoot. Bathrooms were designed in classic marble and polished nickel for an elegant timeless look. Finally a charming and simply designed bedroom with pretty details was designed for the client’s young daughter.
