At Russet House we developed a brief with our clients to create a contemporary home for modern day family life with the ability to adapt in the future to support multi-generational living.

The whole-house renovation allowed the energy and thermal performance of the building to be improved significantly. The house has been insulated with natural, breathable insulation, the roof has been rebuilt with high levels of insulation and the infrastructure for an air source heat pump has been installed in anticipation of when the gas boiler will be replaced. As a result, the SAP rating of the property has risen from F(21) to C(75) and the properties lifespan has been extended by 100 years. The basement is a significant extension that includes an ensuite bedroom, gym and cinema room but has been designed so it can be transformed into a discreet apartment within the home providing privacy and independence. The new atrium fills the basement with natural light and, together with the feature steel staircase, ensures the basement feels part of the home to ensure social cohesion. At the rear, a new ground floor extension forms a generous open-plan family space and creates a gentle transition between inside and outside. With complimentary architecture, interior design and landscape design, the home feels cohesive and considered offering a perfect balance of privacy and togetherness, ensuring that the property will remain a beloved family home for many years to come.
