Barratt West London’s transformation of a 1960s housing estate into a thriving new neighbourhood continues with phase four of Hendon Waterside. This phase of 611 new homes in NW9 is spread over four blocks and offers apartments and duplexes for open market sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.

Designed with full-height windows and open-plan spaces, the carefully finished apartments are light and bright, with most enjoying extensive views. Every home has private outdoor space, access to landscaped communal courtyard gardens and an environment rich in green and blue spaces, from The Green communal park running through the centre of the development to the neighbouring Welsh Harp Reservoir surrounded by 170 acres of green space for relaxation and sport. The development has been accredited by Building for a Healthy Life and achieved good marks in each of the 12 assessed areas which, the assessor said, “puts the scheme into a tiny group of perfectly planned developments”. It was especially praised for the way it opened up access between Hendon Broadway and the reservoir park, improving the whole area. Community facilities on the site will include a new primary school, playgrounds, retail outlets and two new bridges providing pedestrian access to the Welsh Harp Reservoir. The energy-efficient new homes at Hendon Waterside Phase 4 are certified as Code for Sustainable Homes level 4, and have features such as a communal energy centre, rainwater harvesting for communal landscape irrigation, green and brown roofs to encourage biodiversity and easy access to local public transport.
