Climate Innovation District

Citu

We have a clear vision of the sort of place we wish to create. A place where people take precedence over cars and where community is at the forefront, within an easy walk of Leeds city centre. The Climate Innovation District (CID) demonstrates that there is a different and better way to live within our cities, and our first phase of homes are now fully occupied by around 120 people. When fully complete, CID will consist of 955 low carbon homes underpinned by climate conscious, workplaces, leisure, and retail. Planning permission has been accepted for the UK’s first net-zero multigenerational building which will incorporate a primary school, a care home, and apartments in one building.

The Climate Innovation District is the location for our head office, ‘The Place’ which is Leeds’ first zero-carbon office building and features a tennis court and basketball court. The Citu Manufacturing facility, located next door to our offices, is where we make our timber-framed houses. By having manufacturing onsite, we are significantly reducing carbon emissions emitted from transport. Sustainability is our bedrock. By challenging the status quo, we want the Climate Innovation District to start a chain reaction across the UK house-building industry, creating sustainable communities, in low-carbon developments across the country.
