Bracknell Gardens

Marek Wojciechowski Architects

It is a rare and fortunate opportunity to be able to work with people in the creation of their own homes. At Marek Wojciechowski Architects we are fortunate enough to specialise in this very emotive type of architecture, refining our skills in this sector for over fifteen years.

Bracknell Gardens is an arts and crafts three-storey family home with cultural significance, situated within the Redington Frognal Conservation Area. Although previously renovated in 2004, we addressed concerns on the space from both a usability, environmental and taste perspective by designing a beautiful new rear extension, with an integrated landscape design and full internal refurbishment. This design is more in keeping with the character of the original building and the streetscape, whilst providing a more comfortable and energy efficient space. The flexibility that is now provided through communal spaces is paramount to its success, and the introduction of the glazed roofing to the loggia space utilized space that was otherwise redundant. The level of excellence that Marek Wojciechowski has provided for both for this project and our broader portfolio showcases Bracknell Gardens’ eligibility for this award. We take a researched and considered approach to the context of every site, in terms of history, culture, typology and materiality, considering the purpose of spaces in line with beautiful design, resulting architecture is complimentary to its setting and highly re-solved in its detailing.
