WHO CAN ENTER?

The British Homes Awards invite entries from home builders, developers, housing associations, architects and interior designers.

Entries are also accepted from Marketing and PR Companies commissioned by their clients to submit entries on their behalf.

ELIGIBILITY

The home, scheme, or phase of the scheme entered for the award must have been completed since 1 June 2018.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Entries have now closed for 2021. Register your interest for 2022 here.

  1. Follow the enter now link to complete the online registration 
  2. Select the category you would like to enter 
  3. Provide the credits for your entry
  4. Upload your written submission, lead image and any relevant support material 
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to make multiple entries 
  6. Submit entry(ies) and make payment where applicable

ENTRY BASICS

Written Submission

Upload one A3 PDF file for the judges to consider. This should be a maximum of 5 pages and should include:

A | Written statement of up to 1,000 words

At the top, state in bullet points:

  • names of architect/designer and of the client/ developer/housebuilder
  • location 
  • number of bedrooms/units
  • size in sq ft
  • project value
  • tenure mix (for developments)
  • for Apartment development of the year and Mixed-use development of the year categories: uses included in scheme and their sizes in sq ft
  • for Affordable Housing category: sale price/rent per unit

When composing your statement, consider the following qualities that the judges will be looking for: design quality; relationship with and contribution to context; innovation in design and delivery; and ability to meet the needs of the target market.

B | Photographs of both exterior and interior of the completed scheme/project

Include short captions. In the Home transformation of the year and Development transformation of the year categories, include before and after images. Images provided with award entries must be predominantly project photography, and not computer generated images. 

C | Floorplans or site plans with full captions

D | Executive Summary

In 250 words or less, please summarise your project/ scheme. Please include relevant information about the project: location; size of the project; innovation in design and delivery; the ability to meet the needs of the target market/client brief; and discuss any challenges you may have faced and overcome. This information will appear alongside your entry on the British Homes Awards website. Keep it simple, clear and concise.

Photographs

Hi-resolution photographs for use on the British Homes Awards website, during the awards presentation and other publicity of the British Homes Awards. Photographs must be free of copyright and reproduction fees. If photographers must be credited, please indicate this in the relevant field on the online entry system.

SUPPORTING MATERIAL AND LEAD IMAGE

As part of your entry we ask you to submit supporting material along with your entry. Please upload at least ONE high-res key image as a jpeg file that best represents your company or project. Please bear in mind there is a max of 50MB for your entire entry. You will not be able to complete your entry if it is over 50MB. 

Your image must comply with the following: 

• Jpeg file 

• High-res 

• at least 300dpi 

Should you reach the shortlist stage, this image may be used for publication through the awards website and will be used on-screen during the awards night presentation.

NOTE - All entrants will have to agree to the following statement at the point of entry:

I am the owner of all intellectual rights in my entry or have all necessary consents from all other owner(s) of intellectual rights in my entry to submit my entry and to grant Haymarket the right to share, publish and otherwise use my entry in all media worldwide forever.
