Daniel Poehner

Director , Baumschlager Eberle Architekten

After studying architecture at TU Berlin and ETH Zurich, Daniel began his career in London in 1999, where he worked across projects in London, Oxford, Abu Dhabi and France.   He has led teams on complex projects, including Masdar City, cultural projects such as the Social Science Library Building for the Oxford University, and commercial city projects such as Principal Place. Daniel spent 10 years at Foster + Partners, working for the Abu Dhabi office between 2009 to 2010, in the position of Associate Partner. He then moved to Paris to start a family. His work has remained international, with projects in Paris, London, New York, Miami, Berlin, Taipei and Doha. In 2022, Baumschlager Eberle Architects' planned an expansion to London, resulting in Daniel's move to their Paris office to set up the company from there, as director of the new London branch. He is now splitting his time between Paris and London.  

What are you most looking forward to about judging this year's British Homes Awards and, as a judge, what are you looking for in the work? 

I am looking forward to a number of interesting projects, in particular it will be interesting for me to study the peculiarities of housing concepts in the UK and compare them with those in Europe.
