Ian Chapman

Architect, The Vawdrey House


Ian Chapman is an RIBA chartered architect with 15 years experience in practice designing across scales and sectors Ian studied Interior Architecture at Ravensbourne
College of Design & Communication, graduating in 2004. Ian’s ambitions in design and the built environment led to post graduate study at Westminster University, with the Diploma Architecture programme before and graduating with distinction in 2010 from the Professional Practice, RIBA Part III examinations.

Before joining The Vawdrey House in 2015, Ian spent eight years working at ArchitecturePLB, rising quickly to a senior team leader position, developing significant
projects for clients such as University College London and the London School of Economics, as well as working alongside Florien Beigel on the creation of CASS School of Arts’ home in Aldgate. He has exhibited competition winning proposals at the NRA in Rotterdam and architectural models at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition.

Ian brings his expertise in contemporary architecture and knowledge of construction to The Vawdrey House and works with a passion that combines a creative flair
and a rigorous attention to detail. He has established a proven track record delivering highly-tailored homes, whether refurbishing existing buildings or designing
new-build properties.

The practice’s projects are award winning; Interior Design of the Year at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards and have been short-listed in the NLA’s Don’t Move, Improve awards. Work is widely published, appearing in titles such as Livingetc, The Sunday Times, and the BIID Interior Design Yearbook. Homes completed by The Vawdrey House regularly feature the in the Open House London event.
