How to enter


Entry is online. Please use the details below to compose your written submission and submit online at  

Entries require a written submission, floor/site plans and supporting photographs.

What your entry needs to include:

WRITTEN SUBMISSION: Upload one PDF file for the judges to consider, which includes:

a. Written statement of up to 1,000 words. At the top, state in bullet points: 

  • Names of architect/designer and of the client/developer/housebuilder 
  • Location
  • Number of bedrooms/units
  • Size in sq ft
  • Project value
  • Tenure mix (for developments)
  • For Best Placemaking and Apartment Development of the Year category: uses included in scheme and their sizes in sq ft
  • For Housing Crisis Solution category: sale price/rent per unit

When composing your statement, consider the following qualities that the judges will be looking for: design quality; relationship with and contribution to context; innovation in design and delivery; and ability to meet the needs of the target market. 

b. Photographs of both exterior and interior of the completed scheme/project. Include short captions. In the Home Transformation and Development Transformation categories, include before and after images. Images provided with award entries must be predominantly project photography, and not computer generated images. 

c. Floorpans or site plans with full captions.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Hi-resolution photographs for use in The Sunday Times supplement on the British Homes Awards, at the presentation and other publicity of The British Homes Awards. Photographs must be free of copyright and reproduction fees. If photographers must be credited, indicate this in the filename.

CONTACT DETAILS:  Please advise the contact details of the company submitting the entry. This could be a PR/Marketing Agency or Architect or Interior Designer submitting on behalf of its developer/homebuilder/social housing provider client(s).

COMPANY LOGO:  Please upload the company logo(s) for use on awards’ certificates, at the presentation and on communication materials (on or offline).

Who can enter?

The British Homes Awards invite entries from home builders, developers, housing associations, architects and interior designers.

Entries are also accepted from Marketing and PR Companies commissioned by their clients to submit entries on their behalf.

Entry Fees and Deadlines

Entry Fees:
£340 + VAT per entry
You may pay by credit card or invoice. Payment by invoice requires a PO number at the time of submission.
Entries submitted after midnight 10 May will be subject to an additional £75 late fee.*

Design competition: £100 +VAT per entry

Entry deadline: 
Midnight 10 May

Late entry deadline (£75 late fee):
Midnight 31 May


The home, scheme, or phase of the scheme entered for the award must have been completed since 1 June 2016.


All entrants agree to co-operate with the Awards’ Organisers and to allow reasonable access to the media should they wish to interview. Entrants also agree to give the Organisers authority to reproduce copyrighted material for the promotion of the Awards in whatever medium and/or at which event considered appropriate by the Organisers.
