Countryside

: Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Conran & Partners

Situated in the heart of Maidenhead town centre in Berkshire is Watermark, Countryside’s £94m regeneration scheme in partnership with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Watermark is revitalising the site of a former council car park alongside York Stream with new homes and a tranquil public square, surrounded by new retailers, thereby bringing fresh life to an underutilised area of Maidenhead.

Located in York Road, Countryside is delivering 229 new homes, of which 88 are affordable, as well as creating a new hub for Maidonians at Library Square, which offers 20,000 sq ft of restaurant, café and leisure space, extending out onto terraced seating with views of York Stream. The new Library Square was opened by Theresa May MP in May 2022, with the new retail spaces - award-winning brewer ‘A Hoppy Place’, wine and tapas restaurant ‘Masters’, pizza restaurant ‘Kneed Pizza’ and Anytime Fitness - under the arches of the development fully let and open to the public. The public plaza also provides a new setting for the Grade II listed Maidenhead Library. Countryside is creating new public realm and landscaping across the development, through rich greenery, water features, pocket parks and direct access to Library Square, while further retail spaces will open up underneath the arches of the development, creating a lively waterfront lifestyle overlooking York Stream that embellishes Maidenhead’s existing eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and pubs.
